Special attention is also paid to the history of the 20th Century, namely the research into, collection and keeping of materials showing events and life in the Gorenjska region over the last century.
Over the last few decades, an important part of the work done by the museum has been focused on collecting artefacts attesting to life in current times. The collection of characteristic items from modern times allows us to actively choose them and, at the same time, we also wish to collect the relevant documentation of our time ‘as soon as possible.’
This is why we document the happenings in Gorenjska, collect photographic documentation and fine prints (posters, brochures, flyers, tickets, postcards, etc.), which is the most rapidly disappearing material and, at the same time, the most representative of the time in which it is made. Among the artefacts, we collect and select the ones that will, as future museum exhibits, most accurately reflect the Gorenjska region in our time. Needless to say, these materials are those that are gathered most easily and those that are most frequently replaced. We are also constantly adding to the ‘old’ collections, since we are striving to present the 20th Century Gorenjska in the most complex way possible.
