The mission
The Gorenjska Museum is the central regional institution for the protection of movable heritage in the Gorenjska region. It is an opened, non profit institution that works for the benefit of society. That’s why we are partnering with different stakeholders throughout the region to co-create sustainable development in the region. We contribute to culture, science, education, tourism and leisure activities.
The Gorenjska Museum is a place where a wealth of collections, knowledge and people come together, where professionalism and responsibility of employees, inspiring heritage and art, collaboration, socializing and intercultural dialogue meet. Collecting, documenting, preserving, researching and presenting the movable heritage of Gorenjska is aimed at promoting a positive attitude towards the entire cultural heritage, in order to understand the present on the basis of awareness of the past, thus contributing to the ongoing dialogue and at the same time strengthening the Slovenian national consciousness.
